Ajaleetora (Xuwonikon), was the 5th daughter of famous writer and Dibrugarh district judge Benudhar Rajkhowa. A popular lady, respected and loved by all. Noticeable was her style, graceful, charming and self confident. Born to a rich and reputed family in Dibrugarh, she was a person of simplicity and kind words. Her names “Xuwoni” (beauty) and “Ajalee” (simplicity) was reflected in her personality. She was an expert in handicafts, knitting, sewing, handloom craft, art and other crafts. Above all she was a recognised singer.She proved her ability in cooking. In Lakhimpur, she directed a drama “Basanta Abhishek” for children and earned great appreciation. Ajaleetora was the first assamese lady to be recognised as a childrens’ writer.She published many articles, poem, translation of stories in foreign language to Asomiya.Some of her books that needs special mention Ali baba aru dukuri dokait, Sinbad aru satoti jaalo jatra,Anadaram Dhekial Phukan,Goonabhi Ram Barooah,Hem Chandra Barua.
